Ben & Jerry's Releases First Gay-Friendly Ice Cream

Hubby Hubby for sale in VermontBen & Jerry's, known for ice cream flavors such as Cherry Garcia and Chunky Monkey, has become the first company to release a gay friendly ice cream.  One of their signature flavors, Chubby Hubby, has been renamed for the month of September to Hubby Hubby in support of marriage equality in the state of Vermont.  Gays have been rushing out to the stores to stock up on the only gay friendly ice cream that's available only for a month.

"Ben & Jerry's has always been a strong supporter of gay marriage, but their push towards a gay friendly ice cream is just awesome!" says Lance Hannon, a gay resident of Vermont and a self-proclaimed ice cream fanatic.  "Now my boyfriend Diesel and me can sit down on the couch and enjoy some Hubby Hubby (and some chubby hubby, too, if ya know what I mean!).  There's no other gay friendly ice cream on the market, so we're stocking up by the pints because once it's gone, we'll have to go back to not eating ice cream at all.  We don't know what those non-gays do to normal ice cream, but we know it's not gay friendly."

Ben Cohen, co-founder of Ben & Jerry's, had this to say about the name.  "Hubby Hubby was an easy line extension for us and didn't involve much creative thought or repositioning of the product.  Jerry, however, was fixated on naming the ice cream Nut Gobbler. There aren't even nuts in the ice cream, so Jerry finally conceded and we settled on Hubby Hubby."

Hubby Hubby will be available only in Vermont for a limited time, but enough time for Prius and other hybrid driving gays to drive over and pick up some ice cream from their local Ben & Jerry's, which is probably in the same neighborhood as a Whole Foods and definitely a Starbucks or three.
