President Obama is off on another world tour with this trip focusing on Asia. Â However, Obama again displayed his lack of international cultural knowledge. Â As he met with Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama, Obama bowed, which evokes weakness in Japanese terms. Â Obama drones shouldn't fret, though, because President Nixon also did this, so they can go back to drinking their lattes and using their tote bags at Whole Foods.
This bow begs the question of who is in charge inside Obama's State Department that is supposed to understand other cultures? Â A senior White House official, probably either Rham "Deadfish" Emanuel or David Axelrod, assured the media that no Japanese observers "would say anything other than that he enhanced both the position and the status of the U.S., relative to Japan."
However, on Jake Tapper's blog over at ABC News, reads this quote from an academic expert about the Japanese Empire:
"The bow as he performed did not just display weakness in Red State terms, but evoked weakness in Japanese terms....The last thing the Japanese want or need is a weak looking American president and, again, in all ways, he unintentionally played that part."
It's okay, President Obama, we'll let it slide because you truly are the Messiah and couldn't have ever learned that growing up in Indonesia!
