Hidden beautifully in the Senate health care bill is a provision to increase Medicaid subsidies to "certain states recovering from a disaster." Â As Majority Leader Harry Reid is prying for votes to reach the 60 he needs, one Democrat that hasn't made up her mind yet is Senator Mary Landrieu of Louisiana. Â The vote is scheduled for 8pm tomorrow night and the Democrat's are scrambling to make sure everyone is on board to pass this trillion dollar bill that includes a public option, but won't cover Nancy Pelosi's botox treatments.
So what does Harry Reid and his cronies do to pass this bill? Â He adds a provision on page 432 that explains any state "during the proceeding seven fiscal years" that has declared a "major disaster area" will receive $100 million in Medicaid subsidies. Â Of course, this only applies to one state - Louisiana!
This is the most blatant attempt to buy a vote to pass a bill that should have at least 80 Senator's voting for it to pass. Â Nationalizing the health care industry, about 20% of the GDP, should require more than a partisan vote that will only grow government and redistribute not only wealth, but year's of peoples lives.
This is the modern day Louisiana Purchase.
