The terrorist attack on by Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab on Flight 253 headed for Detroit Christmas day caught the eye of many Americans. But where was the undocumented Commander in Chief? President Obama and the first family is vacationing in Hawaii for their Christmas break, but he remained silent for three days after the failed attack. He's been under fire over his lack of leadership on the situation - the White House is probably more concerned with figuring out who the scapegoat should be.
Any threat of terrorism needs to be addressed seriously, whether or not the president is on vacation. But what's really pathetic is how Obama rushed off the golf course when he found out his golf partner's son had been injured by a surfboard. An ambulance was called to the vacation home, which caught the eye of the press. The golf friend is staying at Obama's Hawaiian vacation house. After the incident calmed down, President Obama returned to the golf course.
For those having trouble sifting through the details, Obama didn't show any reaction or speak to the American people after the attempted terrorist attack, but a surfboard accident did garner his attention. Fortunately, Obama did address the nation today where he vowed this his administration "will not rest" until they track down everyone involved in the failed terrorist attack. This is the third radical Islamic attack that has taken place on U.S. soil since Obama has been in office, and each time there's an attack, the Obama administration seems to have difficulty deciding how they want to react based on politics, not national security.
Earlier today, al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula claimed responsibility for the attack, but sources are dismissing the claim. Nonetheless, Yemen is becoming the poor mans Afghanistan and is a hotbed for up and coming terrorists. It shouldn't take any administration much time to conjure up a speech to show that America is being diligent and responding to the attack. 72 hours of silence sends the wrong message to Americans and only feeds the terrorists appetites.
