Papa John's CEO and founder had some bad news for investors last week during their conference call: Obamacare will increase costs for the company, forcing them to be passed on to consumers. This is what happens in the business world when government regulations affect the bottom line: consumers pay more. This is the result that will take place at nearly every business in America under Obamacare. And the law isn't even fully in effect.
You know those sweet pizza deals from Papa John's? They're about to get more expensive – $.15 - $.20 more expensive. Now that doesn't sound like much, but for a company that sells millions of pizzas each quarter, it's clear that Obamacare is the business killing behemoth it's always been. It will have a significant impact on companies.
From FOX Business:
“We're not supportive of Obamacare like most businesses in our industry,” Schnatter said in a call to analysts. “But our business model and unit economics are about as ideal as you can get for a food company to absorb Obamacare.”
Schnatter has made no secret of who he supports for the 2012 election. The pizza mogul hosted a fundraiser for GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney at his Louisville, KY home in April.
Schnatter added that on a corporate basis, the reform would increase Papa John’s price per pizza by 15 to 20 cents.
“Let's say fuel goes up-- which it does from time to time-- and we have to raise delivery charges,” said Schnatter.”We don't like raising delivery charges, but the price of fuel is out of our control as is Obamacare. So if Obamacare is in fact not repealed, we will find tactics to shallow out any Obamacare costs. And of course strategies to pass that cost onto consumers in order to protect our shareholder's best interest.”
Obamacare is the most radical law imposed against the American people in modern history. All of the horror stories are true - there will be death panels and health care rationing, as is the case in every government-run health care system.
