If anything comes of the Roman Polanski situation it's that Hollywood continues to prove how detached they are from society. To update anybody who's been living in their parents basement, Roman Polaski, Hollywood director and child rapist, raped and sodomized a 13-year old girl after seducing her with quaaludes and champagne over 30 years ago. He was charged, but fled the United States before he was sent to prison. He's been captured in Switzerland and now Hollywood liberals are demanding that he be released and that Polanski himself is the victim.
Value-Added Tax: A Non-Tax Tax Increase

One President Obama's many campaign promises was that he wouldn't raise taxes on the middle class. So how can he get around this? A value-added tax (VAT) of course! A VAT is a tax on manufacturers at each stage of production on the amount of value an additional producer adds to a product. It's the perfect non-tax tax increase. The problem, of course, are the huge costs that will be passed on to consumers and businesses. The VAT is, arguably, a way to raise money for government, but will put American's out of jobs and won't raise money.
Windfall Profits a Target to Pay for Healthcare Reform

The Baucus healthcare bill is planned to be voted on next week in the Senate and is said to cost taxpayers $829 billion over ten years. This will supposedly save or net the government $81 billion in ten years. But we all know that won't happen given the governments track record of basically never coming in under budget. The Baucus bill lacks a public option, which far-leftists want more than anything to be included. And right now, House Speaker Pelosi is talking about windfall profit taxes on insurance companies to pay for this.
