The Oscars without Politics Makes for a Boring Show

Every viewer of last night's Academy Awards witnessed a surprising upset.  No, I'm not talking about Avatar coming up short on awards - I'm talking about the shocking omission of liberal political propaganda speak that's typically delivered by Hollywood stars that are divorced from reality.  Other than accepting awards, the Oscars has turned into a platform for actors to voice their political opinion, but that wasn't the case this year.  What we saw last night, though, was far from the norm.

Health Care Reform Battle Heats Up as March 18 Vote is Set

The date has been set for health care reform.  Today the White House announced that an up or down vote, which only requires a simple majority, is needed before President Obama leaves for an international trip on March 18.  While this is true, the real reason this date was picked is because Democrats are worried about seeing their constituents during Easter recess - they needed assurance from the White House that there would be no repeat of what happened last August.

Jim Bunning Should be Saluted as a Hero

Not even a month after the undocumented President Obama signed the pay-go bill into law, it's already been broken.  The baseball player turned Senator, Jim Bunning (R - KY), took a stance against Washington and refused to agree to "unanimous consent" to pass the $10 billion bill until Congress found a way to pay for it by not adding to the deficit.  He was following Senate rules.  As falsely reported by the media, this was not a filibuster.  But it's too late - the media has already vilified this hero who stands for something that so many in Washington can only claim to stand for.
